Today was my second day and it was such a fun day at work. When I arrived the two instructors: Hayat and Nawal noticed I had a english to french guide so they immediately started teaching me arabic from french words. It was so kind of them to help me (especially cause the kids just ran wild for about 30 minutes). Some of my most used phrases and words today were:
Shut up = sket
Thanks= shukran
Children = derri
My name: Ismi...Kirsten
Finish = kemmel
Pretty = zweena
Girl = binch
Boy = wellab
Hello = Salame alay koum
Hi = Wa alay koum salam wa
My god = rahmatou lah
How are you = Kayfa Hallek
So I am making progress right??? The children sang many versus from the Koran today, which I was unable to participate in--then Nawal gave me a copy of the Koran to follow along with but it was written in Arabic so it was no helped. I pretended to sing along so the children did not think I was being disrepectful. After that we went into a room that was similar to a theatre room. The children did this dance together. The girls dance so feminine like belly dancers and the boys are all over the place. They then asked me to join, it was so cute-- at the end of the dance you come together and kneel and pray together. These children already are so well taught and mannered at the ages of 5-6. When they were being picked up some of them came and kissed me good bye. When Hannah and I were waiting to be picked up by CCS we walked across the street to sit in the sun, a little boy walked by with his mother and stuck his hand in both of our faces to shoot us--we were then told it was not safe for us tobe on that side ofthe road.
Talk soon- Kirsten

Hi Kirsten! Are you allowed to take pictures of the kids and babies?
Wow!, what a second day. Now you are starting to learn about communicating, that is great. You have the greatest attitude when it comes from learning and sharing of yourself. Stay on the right side of the street. I love you, Kevo
Please stay on the right side of the road! Isn't it so interesting how different places have different customs that you would never know about? I'm glad to hear that things are going well, I'd love to be able to give them all the money I have. I feel like I'm poor sometimes, I guess it all depends on your perspective, because now I feel so rich! Thanks for helping me learn that lesson! Take care - michelle
