WOW------What a weekend, the sights and sounds. Walking through the souk I would just get taken away with smells, tastes, touches, sounds, and the like. It was hard to absorb (and be on alert)everything that we would come upon. And the complete chaos, you know I loved that .At all times there would be arabic babbling, french bargaining, scooters flying by right at your toes, food samples being shoved under your nose, lots of B. O.,beggers of all ages, women with babies ,children, old -really old men, more children with play snakes or nasty looking candy or a rose, the men and boys pulling their carts would come right up behind you and holler at you to move(which you do very rapidly because they are not going to slow down) there were ladies selling used old sick decaying teeth, say honest! yes this is the truth! How do they get ownership of these teeth? dont wanna know!!!!! The bargaining was fun to a point but also very draining because every single time you want to make a purchase you have to bargain.bargain.bargain and if you were making a substantial purchase it would also include mint tea ( out of a small glass that Lord knows who or what had been drinking out of) we did get some great things and would'nt of wanted to miss the experience. Other smells that have come to mind when my mind wanders back to the souk and the streets: urine, orange juice, horse poop, leather,SWEAT,cologne and body sprays, dirt, meat roasting, spices, incense, breads, animals, coffee, and even blossoms on the fruit and blooming trees. Wonderful memory for me,my keen senses have locked a memory of Morocco in my mind that I will always treasure and be able to drift back to at my pleasure. We ate in fabulous restaurants visited a casino where they had a desert bar and dropped in and out of(real quick)of some less than desirable watering holes, very much worth the laugh we got. Other than the scare from scooter boy the weekend was perfect. After our 4 hour train ride to home base ,dinner was waiting. We have all cleaned up and ready to start another week of what we are really here for, trying to make that little bit of difference for another fellow human being on this big wonderful planet...au revoir,Laura
